There are just 3 of us. We're currently based in Warsaw, Poland. Me and Bartek are programmers that can build everything - it's always just a matter of time that we need to spend on a certain project. Karolina (my girlfriend) knows everything about Shoujo Manga and she is our guide. We're working as a team for 5 years now. The idea of Mangaido has started in the Fall of 2014. At the beginning we wanted to host Shoujo Manga of a biggest Japanese publishers (kind of Spotify for Manga) (old video: http://youtu.be/8UbVyapGB-k ). We had opportunity to take lot of money for this project from European venture capitals but we decided to take everything on ourselves. At the beginning of 2015 we flew to Tokyo to talk with Kodansha, Hakusensha, Shueisha, Kadokawa and some other publishers. Of course, all of them were not interested in further cooperation and they didn't seen any serious opportunity in such idea. Then, we went to Tokyo's Comiket and we saw thousands of amateur Japanese artists that was publishing by themselves their awesome comic series. We changed the idea of Mangaido and from that point we started to build website where artists from all over the world could publish their comic series to be translated to other languages by community. First version of Mangaido was ready at Fall of 2015 but we finished translation tool at the fall of 2016. This is the strongest side of Mangaido - translation tool. At the begining of spring 2017 we published our coin system and from now on every comic creator can earn money via our website. I am sure that at the end of 2017 we will grow to a big community of translators willing to help amateur artists by translating their artworks in couple of hours and that we gather here lots of talented artists. We're 100% committed to our mission - help artists by translations and good earning platform.

First version of FAQ is finally published :D I'll add much much more there soon. Sorry that I was so quite recently but I dived too much into developing new comic series reader and kind of forget about everything else :P So, FAQ is here: https://mangaido.com/en/faq and in a week or two I will publish brand new reader (this is huge thing, believe me, lots of new cool features) Also, big thanks to @okami_haruma for helping new users and preparing this first few questions. Soon I will add some images and videos to improve FAQ even more. But, guys, we finally have FAQ! :P :P :P
Quick video update! 130 series, 400 translations, 3500 artworks! https://youtu.be/zon8mo5r-Qo
Just to let you know. I'm currently working on new Mangaido comic series reader. One of the new features will be reading book-like comic series. This is a very very very early stage presenting very simple page changing animation on mobile. A massive amount of work ahead of me but I hope that you'll like new reader once it will be ready. Book-like reading will be an additional thing. Scrolling for webcomics will be still available. The new reader will focus on ergonomy and improvement of user experience. I'm really sorry for today's website unavailability. Our server provider datacenter in Strasbourg had major issues with power shortage #ovhgate
Mangaido is growing! @okami_haruma joined our crew as a New Users Guardian! Okami will represent our new users and push me and rest of our team, to make Mangaido more welcoming and less confusing to people new to our community. Our first mission together will be creating our first FAQ :)
We have a new member in our Mangaido crew!!! @katsumiee is now an Ambassador of Hungarian Users :) She is also finishing website translation to Hungarian :)
Did you know guys we have already 125 published comic series here?! That's incredible!
I just uploaded a change that will make adult series visible for all the readers so it will not be so hard to find them as it was before. All the adult series will be signed be a "18+" red icon in upper right corner of series cover.
Note to artists:
Please, keep your comic series safe for children because they will be visible for all readers.
Another change is about homepage - we changed algorithm of comic series we show. Now instead of showing just 4 recently popular series we show a mix of recently popular and recently updated 50/50.
(random 2 out of top 8 recently popular series) + (random 2 out of 8 recently updated series other than 2 popular selected before)
That way we will show both already popular series and the ones recently updated giving more readers more chance to discover something new from homepage.
@ayumi - this is something that you mentioned about I hope :)
Hi guys! Just wanted to give you a quick info that we're aware of the issue that adult series are harder to find so we'll fix this so that adult series will be visible in main section along with the "safe" ones. We'll just ask you to use "safe" covers so that our younger audience will be "safe" :) Also we'll change the way we show series on homepage so that we will show not only recently popular but updated ones and some series less known :) I will give you more info once I roll out new update :)
